Born in Park Falls and raised in Winter, James has called the Northwoods home for most of his life. He married his wife Heather in 1994 and the two settled down in Cable. They have three children, all born in Spooner.
For twenty years, James and Heather have operated a small family resort on Lake Owen. They have grown their business through hard work, delivering exceptional service to their guests and building strong relationships here in the 25th Senate District.
James has served on the Bayfield County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors since 2011.
Over the past twenty years, James has been a dedicated, civic-minded business owner who has worked each and every day to make his local community and the 25th Senate District a better place.
With a passion for serving others, James was honored with the Governors Service Excellence award for his role on the Organizing Committee for the International Paralympic Committee’s Nordic Skiing World Championships held in Cable in 2015.
Earning the respect of his community, James served for 6 years on the Board of Directors for the Cable Area Chamber of Commerce. He eventually became the Chamber’s Executive Director, a post he has held for the past eleven years.
